Then through the remainder of the bar, it would trigger the sample to be played back, applying pitch change, fx, changing sample start time, retriggering it - whatever - ie wierd. Now in a pattern on the MD I could set a trigger that makes the MD capture a sample at the start of each bar. Lets say Im changing chord on the pad at the start of each bar. So Im playing what is bascially a pad on tyhe so, but one with a tonally harder attack for eg. Not read the whole thread so sorry if someone has allready said this.Ī simple example of using MD audio ins and triggerd sample capture and playback. This will all make sense to you once you have the MD. The only really weird part is getting your head around playing one measure into the future. Plug in a guitar and play an arpeggiated chord to the tempo (root note first), and you're the trance master. Another three tracks all took the sample and processed in different ways. The I made a track that rolled off the beginning of the sample (to lessen the attack), pitched it down an octave and filtered appropriately for bass.

With the ram machines, I did this (and I'm simplifying for the sake of brevity): Using only ram machines, I set up a pattern that sampled the inputs once per measure. So could i sample bits of my guitar and process it through the MD ? Not becuase it's hard ot use or learn, but because it does so much stuff. I was deep into the throes of learning the Monomachine and the MD stopped me in my tracks. Like it distracted you from doing other things musically ? I've done a lot of searching for MD info in the forum, and i've gotten a pretty clear picture but i WOULD love some more info on the User-Wave mod and exactly what it allows you to do. If i bought used what should i look for as far as patches/software upgrades? i generally buy used but am wondering if its a good decision on a MD. just so the beats aren't scary-repetitive. and say something like "this beat drops the 3rd kick drum out every 3rd measure". I'd want to have a good amount of control over the beats, such as accents, lag. Some of the sounds i'd love to bring about would hopefully span fromījork's 'vespertine' (though i think matmos used tons of samples for beats) to Boards of Canada to stuff like Patrick Wolf. i suck at using software on my g4 powerbook, i prefer hardware anyway. I'm trying to start doing some music on my own (aside from a band) and thought the Elektron MachineDrum-UWmod would be perfect because:Ģ. I'm in need of some advice i think a lot of you are capable of providing.
